Movie Making Camps | Ages 8-11, 10-13, & 11-13

Gryphon Camps offers a variety of camps that are categorized into Activity Camps or Sports Camps. Both Stop Motion Animation (Lego/clay) and Movie Making Camp sit within the Activity Camps umbrella.

Program designed for ages 8-11 years old.

Campers will actively engage in hands-on exploration of the stop-motion animation process through an action-packed week. Working in small crews, using Lego and clay, campers will learn the animation process from pre-production to post-production, storyboarding, making movie sets, writing scripts, shooting, and creating short films and trailers.

Program designed for ages 10-13 years old.

Campers will explore filmmaking from pre-production to post-production. While learning about cinematography, script writing, and film editing tools (Final Cut, iMovie, Canva), campers will create, act in, and edit a short film and movie trailer.

Program designed for ages 10-13 years old.

Campers will create a digital comic book and action-packed movie trailer. Each crew will engage in hands-on lessons on cinematography, storyboarding, scriptwriting, comic book photography, and special effects editing.

  • Each camp program will include 2 staff per 18 campers (ratio of 1:9) with an additional instructor from Film Camp In a Box to assist with film creation.
  • Campers will learn camera angles and focus on digital media literacy skill development.
  • Programs focus on improving oral/visual communication, collaboration skills, social engagement, and critical/abstract thinking.
  • Campers are taught using the STEAM engagement learning approach that uses math, arts, technology, and engineering.
  • Each week will conclude with a Red Carpet Film Festival, for campers to showcase their projects.
  • Campers will spend half of each day as filmmakers and the rest will include games, crafts, and outdoor activities.
  • There is no recreational swimming as a part of these programs.
  • Equipment provided to campers includes a Macbook Air, HD stop motion camera, tripod, green screen, boom mic, and set art supplies.

Minimum Age: Campers must be no younger than the minimum age or be turning that age by the upcoming September 1st. 

Maximum Age: Campers must be no older than the maximum age by the end of the calendar year (December 31st).  


Pick-Up & Drop Off:

Drop-Off | 8am to 8:45am

Programming | 8:45am to 4pm

Pick-Up | 4pm to 4:30pm

Post Camp Extended Day Supervision | 4:30pm to 5:30pm

  • $35/week per camper.
  • Available for purchase in June.
