Senior Activity Camp Ages 9-12 & 10-13 | Gryphon Sports Extravaganza Camp Ages 11-13

Gryphon Camps offers a variety of camps that are categorized into Activity Camps or Sport Camps. Both Senior Activity and Gryphon Sports Extravaganza Camp sit within the Activity Camps umbrella.

New Minimum/Maximum Age Requirements

Each camp has a minimum and maximum age requirement to ensure campers are grouped with others within the same age range.  If you have questions or concerns about age requirements, please contact the Gryphon Camps Office at camps@uoguelph.ca or 519-824-4120 Ext. 56131.

  • Minimum Age: Campers must be no younger than the minimum age or be turning that age by the upcoming September 1st. 
  • Maximum Age: Campers must be no older than the maximum age by the end of the calendar year (December 31st).  

Senior Activity Camp & Gryphon Sports Extravaganza Camp will have 2 staff with 20 campers (ratio of 1:10).

Sports Extravaganza will introduce new sports along with ones that campers may have already played recreationally. It's all about being active & having fun with a little competition.

We take art to new heights. Campers will tune into their creativity as they discover new skills they may choose to continue outside the camp environment.

Senior Activity Camp | Gryphon Sports Extravaganza Camp 

Both Camps include:

  • Recreational swimming three times a week
  • Whimsical Wednesdays, a day with a few 'twists'
  • Fun Friday Finale, theme-based challenges to 'wrap' up the week

Senior Activity Camp | Ages 9-12 & 10-13

Senior Activity Camp is broken down into two age ranges giving you the option to choose what age group is most suitable.  Youth will have the opportunity to continue their summers in the Gryphon Camps while being introduced to new, advanced, and unique activities and challenges with a weekly theme that will be age appropriate.  This camp acts as a transition to other opportunities that may exist for this specific age group within the Gryphon Camps or in their daily lives.

Gryphon Sports Extravaganza Camp | Ages 11-13

Are you someone that loves to be active, learn new sports or games, play sports for fun, and socialize through being active with others? This camp will have campers experience other sports that Gryphons play and games that keep everyone moving all day with fun competition.

We will participate in our own Gryphon Detective training to learn how to follow clues, work together, solve puzzles and challenges on our way to finding Gryph somewhere on campus. We can't wait for you to help us find Gryph! Note: This is a four day camp week due to Canada Day on Monday (No camp program on Monday July 1st)

This camp week includes a visit to the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club to learn and play lawn bowling. Theme: Shine Bright! Gryphon Vibrant Colour Tournament It’s time to brighten up the campus with our vibrant camp colours. Each camp will have specific team colours and compete in challenges, activities, games that will be part of our Gryphon Vibrant Colour Tournament. All week long we will have colours in everything we do and lots of teamwork.

Gryphon Sport Extravaganza - July 15-19/24 - Ages 11-13

Getting active and moving with a variety of physical opportunities is the goal of this camp. Youth will be introduced and participate in new, and unique recreational activities, games and sports. This camp is focused on fun and developing active lifestyles. It acts as a transition to other opportunities of being active outside of camp. Campers will have the opportunity for recreational swimming opportunities three times throughout the week. In addition, our camp activities will connect to our weekly camp theme. During this week at camp, we will have coaches from the Ontario Schools Cricket Association will be visiting to teach the campers how to play cricket. Theme: Blast from the Past Let’s take our Gryphon travel machine to take us back in time. Each camp will take their time (travel) machines to participate in different time periods and decades. This fun week will take us back and explore before it was 2024!

We emphasize positive social interactions, reflections, teambuilding, and physical movement through a variety of fun recreational activities and art opportunities. A specifically designed focused theme enables campers to be engaged in new experiences, daily adventures and self-growth. Recreational swimming three times a week is offered at this camp. Theme: Under The Sea Strap on your scuba suit! This week we will be spent Under the Sea. We’ll be exploring under the sea with water games and crafts. Time to get ready to be sea explorers.

Gryphon Sport Extravaganza - July 22-26/24 - Ages 11-13

Getting active and moving with a variety of physical opportunities is the goal of this camp. Youth will be introduced and participate in new, and unique recreational activities, games and sports. This camp is focused on fun and developing active lifestyles. It acts as a transition to other opportunities of being active outside of camp. Campers will have the opportunity for recreational swimming opportunities three times throughout the week. In addition, our camp activities will connect to our weekly camp theme. During this week at camp, we will visit the Boathouse and campers will have an opportunity to canoe or kayak under camp supervision and lifeguards. Theme: Under The Sea Strap on your scuba suit! This week we will be spent Under the Sea. We’ll be exploring under the sea with water games and crafts. Time to get ready to be sea explorers.

Senior Activity Camp offers skill based activities that enables youth an opportunity to use these skills in their daily lives. We emphasize positive social interactions, reflections, teambuilding, and physical movement through a variety of fun recreational activities and art opportunities. A specifically designed focused theme enables campers to be engaged in new experiences, daily adventures and self-growth. Recreational swimming three times a week is offered at this camp. This camp week includes a visit to the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club to learn and play lawn bowling. Theme: Gryphon Olympics This week is the kickoff to the Summer Olympics in Paris, France. So, we’re going to have our own Gryphon Olympics These will not be your usual Olympic sports, as we’ll be putting our Gryphon “twist” on our events!

A specifically designed focused theme enables campers to be engaged in new experiences, daily adventures and self-growth. Recreational swimming three times a week is offered at this camp. Theme: The Year is 2050 What do you think it will be like in 2050? This week we will travel into the future and try new things that we believe will be around in 2050. Who knows what the future will hold? We do know that it will be full of adventure, creativity, and fun. Note: This is a four day camp week due the Civic Holidya on Monday (No camp program on Monday August 5th)

Theme: Riding off into the Sunset Wow!! It’s the last week of summer camp. This week we will be riding off into the sunset as we head “West”. Yee Haw! It’ll be a week full of adventures, and country-themed activities. Note: This is a four day camp week due summer camp ending for the season on Thursday (no camp program on Friday August 30th)

Campers will have the opportunity for recreational swimming opportunities three times throughout the week. In addition, our camp activities will connect to our weekly camp theme. Theme: Stories Come to Life Hmmmm…..what magical place will camp turn into this week?? We’ll be having a blast with our creative minds while campers participate in games and crafts centered around well known characters, movies, stories. Get ready for a week of imagination!
