Arboretum Camp | Ages 8-11 & 11-13

Gryphon Camps offers a variety of camps that are categorized into Activity Camps or Sport Camps. Arboretum Camp sits within the Activity Camps umbrella.

Arboretum Camp

  • All Arboretum Camp programs will include 2 staff per 20 campers (ratio of 1:10) with additional professional naturalists when at the Arboretum.
  • Campers will spend time outdoors exploring nature while learning about the natural environment through fun and thought-provoking activities and challenges.
  • Campers will start and end their day at the Guelph Gryphon's Athletic Centre to participate in energizing games and physical activity.
  • Each group will take a short hike to the 'The Arboretum’s Nature Centre' where professional naturalists will lead experiential learning in various habitats throughout the Nature Centre.
  • Activities take place rain or shine, please dress for the weather and pack additional items as necessary.
  • There is no recreational swimming as part of this camp.

Minimum Age: Campers must be no younger than the minimum age or be turning that age by the upcoming September 1st. 

Maximum Age: Campers must be no older than the maximum age by the end of the calendar year (December 31st).

Hidden Life of the Arb | Ages 8-11

Explore The Arboretum’s hidden worlds! From insects in disguise to animals blending into their surroundings, there’s always more here than meets the eye. Campers will discover hidden wonders by uncovering clues and sharpening their nature-detective skills, revealing the secrets of the plants and animals living right under our noses!


Nature Art | Ages 8-11

Participants will explore the beauty of nature through art! With nature journals, crafts, and creative activities, campers will deepen their connection to the natural world while sparking curiosity and appreciation for the outdoors.


How to be a Nature Scientist | Ages 11-13

Participants will dive into hands-on citizen science projects, making detailed observations of nature’s smallest wonders and connecting them to big ecological questions about the world around us. Together, we’ll learn what it takes to think like a scientist in the great outdoors!

Arboretum Grypon Camp - July 22-26/24

In this collaborative program with the Arboretum, campers will gain knowledge, develop skills, and have positive and creative social interactions outdoors. We will hike up to The Arboretum’s Nature Centre for programs facilitated by their professional staff, as we learn about all things wild! Rain or shine in the outdoors, so dress for the weather! In addition to this specific program, campers will participate in Activity Camp theme programming. Theme: Under the Sea Strap on your scuba suit! This week we will be spent Under the Sea. We’ll be exploring under the sea with water games and crafts. Time to get ready to be sea explorers.

Arboretum Grypon Camp - Aug 19-23/24

In this collaborative program with the Arboretum, campers will gain knowledge, develop skills, and have positive and creative social interactions outdoors. We will hike up to The Arboretum’s Nature Centre for programs facilitated by their professional staff, as we learn about all things wild! Rain or shine in the outdoors, so dress for the weather! In addition to this specific program, campers will participate in Activity Camp theme programming. Theme: Animal Planet Animals can be amazing and this week campers will have fun being animals, zookeepers or imagining that they work for a wildlife magazine or tv show. It will be adventure after adventure as we explore animals from around the world!
