Recreation Membership is not a pre-requisite to enroll in Certification courses or Kids Programming.

Jays Care - Girls At Bat - Ages 10-14 years July-Aug

We’re partnering with the Jays Care Foundation in this 8-week program to engage female-identifying girls ages 10-14, which are often those that find themselves sitting on the sidelines. The Jays Care Foundation promotes the theory of change. This is as follows: from baseball, to access, to belonging & connection, to trauma-sensitivity, to variations. Participants will develop skills in all 5 of these ingredients as they are inspired by sport in a positive peer network that will help build confidence and create a stronger connection to community. This program is ideal for those new to baseball. No specialized equipment required. Comfortable clothing and running shoes are recommended. *Registration ends Fri July 15, 2022.

Jays Care - Girls At Bat - Ages 7-9 years July-Aug

Junior Climbing Club | Wednesdays 4:30pm-6pm | Ages 10-14

Do you have previous experience with rock climbing? If so, the Junior Climbing Club is the perfect place to climb with other "like minded" individuals. While Climbing coaches teach techniques, climbers will work at their own pace and begin to perfect their climbing skills. In a relaxed environment, fun competitions will strengthen abilities and further grow an individuals' love for the sport. All equipment is provided. *Registration ends 2 days prior to the start date.

Kids Climbing for Beginners | Tuesdays 4:30pm-6pm | Ages 8-11

Rock Climbing offers a unique environment for children to explore and become more aware of how their bodies move on the rock wall as they progress through bouldering, harnessing, belaying, and then conquering top rope climbing. They will be inspired to set goals and develop teamwork skills as they learn proper safety & rock-climbing techniques. Participants will be grouped according to their climbing exposure and the program will culminate with a friendly finale challenge to put new skills to the test. All equipment is provided. *Registration ends 2 days prior to the start date.

Learn to Skate | Ages 5-11 | Mondays

This program is specifically designed for participants that have taken skating lessons in the past or have had some previous exposure to skating. Children will be grouped based on their skating level, therefore attendance at the first lesson is very important. Through fun games and activities, qualified instructors will facilitate instruction in order to build your child’s confidence and skating skills. We recommend that participants practice between classes. Safety pads are recommended, and CSA approved hockey helmets are mandatory. This program includes a total of 7 classes, please note there will not be a class on Mon Feb 21/22, plus 1 additional removal date due to Figure Skating Competitions that will be identified at 1st class. *Registration ends 2 days prior to the start date.

GIRLS AT BAT

Jays Care Foundation and Gryphon Kids & Camps are proud to offer the Girls At Bat Program this summer!  This 8-week program is designed to engage female-identifying girls who most often sit on the sidelines.  Ideal for those new to baseball.  Ages 7-14.

Learn to Skate

Facilitated by members of our Varsity Figure Skating team, participants will be divided into small groups depending on skating ability in order to build confidence on the ice all through fun activities.  Learn to Skate is offered in Fall & Winter.  

Rock Climbing

Rock Climbing offers kids & youth the opportunity to explore the rock wall & build skills in a relaxed, fun environment.  Bouldering Club (Ages 6-10) will focus on bouldering & ‘rock holds’ at lower heights that do not require the use of a harness.  Beginners (Ages 8-11) will focus on bouldering, harnessing, belaying, and top rope climbing.  Junior Climbing Club (Ages 10-14) is geared towards experienced climbers looking to strengthen their abilities while working at their own pace.  All equipment is provided.  Programming is generally offered in Fall & Winter, but may be offered in Summer.
