Arboretum Camp | Ages 10-13

Gryphon Camps offers a variety of camps that are categorized into Activity Camps or Sport Camps. Arboretum Camp sits within the Activity Camps umbrella.

New Minimum/Maximum Age Requirements

Each camp has a minimum and maximum age requirement to ensure campers are grouped with others within the same age range. If you have questions or concerns about age requirements, please contact the Gryphon Camps Office at camps@uoguelph.ca or 519-824-4120 Ext. 56131.

Minimum Age: Campers must be no younger than the minimum age or be turning that age by the upcoming September 1st.
Maximum Age: Campers must be no older than the maximum age by the end of the calendar year (December 31st).

Arboretum camp will have 2 staff with 20 campers (ratio of 1:10) with additional professional naturalists when at the Arboretum.

Arboretum Camp | Ages 10-13

Spend time outdoors exploring nature while having fun learning all about the natural environment. We are excited to collaborate with the Arboretum to combine the award-winning nature education of The Arboretum with our amazing Gryphon Summer Camps program!

Campers will begin and end the day at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre to participate in a few energizers and moving activities. Then we will take a short hike up to 'The Arboretum’s Nature Centre' where professional naturalists will lead experiential learning in various habitats to discover all things wild. Activities take place outdoors, rain or shine, so dress for the weather as we gain knowledge and develop skills through positive & creative social interactions. There is no recreational swimming as part of this camp.

Learn about birds local to Guelph and what really makes them each unique
Explore what lives in the Arboretum wetlands and understand the water cycle
Get a little dirty while discovering the Arboretum
Learn from professional naturalists through experiential learning
Rain or shine in the outdoors, so dress for the weather

Arboretum Grypon Camp - July 22-26/24

In this collaborative program with the Arboretum, campers will gain knowledge, develop skills, and have positive and creative social interactions outdoors. We will hike up to The Arboretum’s Nature Centre for programs facilitated by their professional staff, as we learn about all things wild! Rain or shine in the outdoors, so dress for the weather! In addition to this specific program, campers will participate in Activity Camp theme programming. Theme: Under the Sea Strap on your scuba suit! This week we will be spent Under the Sea. We’ll be exploring under the sea with water games and crafts. Time to get ready to be sea explorers.

Arboretum Grypon Camp - Aug 19-23/24

In this collaborative program with the Arboretum, campers will gain knowledge, develop skills, and have positive and creative social interactions outdoors. We will hike up to The Arboretum’s Nature Centre for programs facilitated by their professional staff, as we learn about all things wild! Rain or shine in the outdoors, so dress for the weather! In addition to this specific program, campers will participate in Activity Camp theme programming. Theme: Animal Planet Animals can be amazing and this week campers will have fun being animals, zookeepers or imagining that they work for a wildlife magazine or tv show. It will be adventure after adventure as we explore animals from around the world!
