You MUST provide 48 hours’ notice to cancel. You can request a cancellation by contacting the Intramural Office by email at iplayim@uoguelph.ca. We do not accept any rescheduling requests. Only outdoor games cancelled to inclement weather may be rescheduled if the staffing and/ or facility space is available. This is TBD by the Sport Facilitator and is not guaranteed.
Please note, if you are cancelling a Sunday game, you must notify the Intramural office by Thursday at 10:00 PM. Teams may cancel their first games without penalty to their bond. If you cannot attend your first game and you do not cancel your first game, you will lose your ENTIRE bond and you will be REMOVED from the league.
CANCELLATION PROCEDURE:
The following steps need to be completed at least 48 HOURS prior to the scheduled game:
1. The team with the cancellation request MUST e-mail iplayim@uoguelph.ca with the request.
2. IM staff will confirm the cancellation with BOTH teams.
3. SUNDAY games must be cancelled by THURSDAY at 10:00PM.
A 10-minute default rule will apply. If the minimum numbers of players are not present 5-minutes after the scheduled game time the opposing team will be awarded points/goals/runs. After the 5-minute mark if the team still has not met the minimum requirement the opposing team will be given an additional points/goals/runs every minute up until the 10-minute mark when the game will be officially a default and the official score will be applied. NO ADDED TIME WILL BE GIVEN IF MATCH STARTS LATE.
First Game Default - Ice Hockey ($250.00), Other Sports ($75.00) *and removal from league
Regular Season/Playoff Game Default - Ice Hockey ($125.00), Other Sports ($37.50)
Once the team bond is lost completely, the team must repay the bond to continue playing in the league. If a team first game defaults and does not pay their bond back, their spot will go to the next team on the waitlist.
The following is a list of the Intramural Fines. The team bond is FULLY REFUNDABLE unless a team has been fined for the following reasons:
Teams will be notified within 24 hours of any fines being applied towards their team.
At least one referee/monitor will be provided for all matches. Officials are responsible for checking eligibility, attendance, controlling the game and keeping score. If an official fails to show, the teams will be responsible for scoring and calling their own games. Officials MUST be treated with respect. Each match is controlled by an official who has full authority to enforce the Laws of the Game in connection with the match to which he/she has been appointed to. The decisions of the officials concerning the play are FINAL there will be NO NEGOTIATIONS made between teams.
All competitive teams are guaranteed at least ONE playoff match after the regular season. Playoff games are played in the same format as regular season games.
It is the responsibility of all intramural participants to ascertain whether their own health conditions make it advisable to participate in a particular sport. The University of Guelph does not assume ANY RESPONSIBILITY. NO JEWELRY IS PERMITTED FOR ANY INTRAMURAL SPORT. Appropriate gym shoes and apparel must be worn at all times. BOTH teams should take-out pinnies from Client Services for the game (but at least the visiting team).
COMPETITIVE – You're a skilled and knowledgeable player having experience at a rep or travel level. You enjoy a competitive atmosphere and take the game seriously. This level is geared towards the intermediate and advanced player. This level includes a playoff format.
RECREATIONAL – You've played the sport before probably at the house league level. You take the game serious but aren't overly competitive. This level is geared towards the novice player. This level includes a playoff format.
FUN –You've never played the sport before or you're looking for a social experience. You want to get out and meet people in a fun and athletic atmosphere. This level is geared towards the beginner player. This level does not include a playoff format.
All undergraduates and full-time local graduate students pay Athletics Fees and are therefore automatically eligible to play intramurals at no additional cost. Staff, Faculty and Community Members wishing to participate in Intramural Programs MUST PURCHASE a Recreation membership.
Each athlete can only play on ONE men's or women's team per sport plus ONE coed team if offered by the sport regardless of league or division).
Only allowed to play on ONE hockey team except for Goalies who can play on a MAXIUMUM of THREE teams.
Intercollegiate Athletes are NOT permitted to play on an intramural team that is the same as their intercollegiate sport for both semesters.
ALL PLAYERS MUST SIGN IN TO EVERY GAME WITH THEIR U OF G STUDENT/STAFF/FACULTY ID CARD OR DRIVER’S LICENSE (Community members. The only exception is in playoffs, when grace passes are not available for purchase. During playoffs, players can present valid government photo ID as an alternative.
