The University of Guelph, Department of Athletics will be closed effective end of today Tuesday, January 4, 2022, as the Province of Ontario is temporarily moving to a modified Step 2 of the Roadmap to Reopen. Effective 12:01 am on Wednesday, January 5 for at least 21 days (until January 26, 2022) all indoor sport and recreational fitness facilities, including gyms, will be closed. The Department of Athletics will be providing some recreational opportunities in June for current registered U of G students who have paid Athletic Fees for the spring/summer semester. We are still slowly phasing in what services we can offer according to the stages of reopening through the Province of Ontario. April 26, 2021 - Gryphon Summer Camps has been a tradition for the Guelph community. Last year, we saw many community youth participate in our online Clubhouse camp program. For Summer 2021, we are planning to deliver a hybrid model of both in-person and online day camp programs.
The Provincial Government of Ontario has extended the current stay-at-home order and will now last until at least June 2.

Tuesday, March 31, 2020 (GUELPH, Ont.) - The University of Guelph, Department of Athletics announced their employee awards today online. In recent years, the ARC award banquet has become a bright spot on the annual calendar celebrating the hard work and dedication of all 675 part-time staff that contribute to the success of the Department of Athletics. Unfortunately this year, due to concerns about COVID-19 and with the goal of increasing social distancing, the ARC awards banquet was canceled and the awards were instead announced online.
March 30, 2020 – (GUELPH, Ont.) - The Gryphon Cheerleading and Equestrian teams were named the major award winners of the year for the University of Guelph Athletic Clubs after sensational campaigns this past year.
Checking to see if classes are cancelled or the facility is closed due to bad weather? The only time the Department of Athletics will cancel programming due to inclement weather is if the University of Guelph decides to close the whole campus.
