In recognition of International Women’s Day, we have collaborated with Nova Holt, a Human Kinetics BSc Student at the University of Guelph, to share her research on how women can optimize their athletic performance through their menstrual cycle.
While research indicates no direct link between your menstrual cycle and your athletic performance, the symptoms accompanying your cycle, hormonal fluctuations, and the shedding of the uterine lining can affect your physical and mental well-being and your motivation to train. Nova provides a comprehensive understanding of the menstrual cycle and powerful strategies to improve training and empower women.
The full write-up of Nova’s research can be found below, as well as additional resources on creating an inclusive and equitable space for women in athletics.
