Hurdles

One of the events that the campers get to experience are the hurdles. Campers will learn how to jump over the hurdles and set them to the height that they are comfortable with while learning the proper form for this event. This is one of the most popular events for the campers.

Short & Long Distance Running ...

A big highlight of the week is the "12 Minute Run". Campers try their best to see how many laps they can do in 12 minutes. This is always a highlight as everyone strives to break the camp record.  Throughout the week, campers will learn about short and long distance running.

Javelin Throw

Using our safe foam javelins, campers will testing their throwing ability. They will learn how to hold the javelin and then toss it to see their distance. This is a fun event for the campers as it's one that they do not typically get to try in other Track & Field settings. The campers will also do their best at the ball toss event too, and see how the two events compare.

Triple Jump

Hop, Step, Jump! This is how many campers will learn the Triple Jump. Campers get the opportunity to use the jumping pit and participate in this event. This is a lot of fun as everyone learns how to put all three actions together.

Long Jump

Time to fly through the air! Everyone has the opportunity to test out their leaping abilities and fly through the sky into the jumping pit.  Campers will learn the form on jumping and how to reach their maximum distance.  How far can you leap?

Team Relays

Understanding how Track & Field is not an individual sport, but rather a team sport is really shown in the Team Relay. Campers see how they run as a team and do the baton handoff. It's a great event to cheer on your teammates as you work together for one goal.

Gryphon Track & Field Camp will develop skills that will become a foundation throughout a young athlete’s life. Campers will work through daily sessions providing an exciting mix of technical practice, games and special events; moving from general to more specific. During the week campers will learn about all aspects in Track & Field, through the guidance of varsity athletes and coaches, and practice these skills in preparation for the final day Mini Olympics team challenge.

Our campers will be ready for a well-deserved sleep each night to recharge their batteries for the next day.

The program activities will be facilitated by our trained counsellors at a 1:9 ratio for the week. The camp day will be from 9am-4pm (with free supervision activities occurring between 8am-9am and 4pm-5pm). We also offer extended program supervision from 5pm-6pm at an additional fee.

Please visit our Activity Camps homepage to read more information about Gryphons Activity Camps regarding safety, sign in procedures, camper responsibilities, and our overall camp program philosophy.
