COVID-19 Update Dec 21, 2021– Gryphon Athletics

As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, the U of G Department of Athletics continues to adjust programs and services based on the guidance provided by local public health and the Province of Ontario. On Friday, December 17, 2021, the Province of Ontario limited capacity limits to 50%.  

This webpage will be a primary resource for Gryphon Athletics Fitness and Recreation updates and changes.

Fitness & Recreation

  • The Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre remains open. This includes the Fitness Centre, Recreational Swims, Drop-in Rec, and Change Room access.
  • Capacity is limited to 50% in all areas and capacity will be posted outside of each space.
  • Winter NRG memberships are on sale and will start on January 2nd, 2022.

Building Hours

  • Building hours can be found on our website here.

UGAA Lounge – Study Space

  • The UGAA Lounge, study space and Booster Juice is closed until further notice.   

Clubs

  • All Gryphon Club teams have been notified by the Club Supervisor about club programming.

Intramurals

  • Intramurals will start the week of Jan. 31st with last-minute registration happening the week of Jan. 24th.
  • Stay tuned for e-sport tournaments in January 

Registered Programming (learn to skate, dance, martial arts)

  • All registered instructional programming will start the week of Jan. 31st .

Active Kids (swim lessons, learn to skate, climbing)

  • These programs will start as scheduled in January.
  • No in-person birthday party bookings will be permitted until further notice. 
  • Contact us for information on virtual programming opportunities, including birthday parties and team building.

Intercollegiate Sport

  • The OUA winter sport season has been paused after a decision made by the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) on December 17th, 2021.

COVID-19 Guidelines:

  • All visitors over the age of 12 must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to access the U of G campus.
  • Visitors must complete U of G screening tool and show proof of vaccination through their enhanced vaccine certificate and valid ID upon each visit (more).

Community Health:

  • It is important that we all contribute to community health to stop the spread of COVID-19. Please continue to follow all masking and public health protocols. Stay home if you feel sick and arrange to get your third COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.
