We are excited to recognize Matt Newman as our Gryphon Greatness winner for October!

Matt has consistently demonstrated exceptional initiative, creativity, and leadership in enhancing the Climbing Wall experience for both participants and staff.

This fall, Matt introduced innovative belay lessons to help climbers build confidence and develop essential skills, while also facilitating our first-ever PD Day program designed specifically for the Climbing Wall — an exciting step in expanding what this space can offer youth in our community.

Matt’s dedication to outreach shines through in his continued efforts to create new opportunities for climbers, including developing a program for first-year residence students to discover climbing and build strong campus connections.

Beyond programming, Matt has played a key role in fostering a cohesive and connected staff team. His focus on communication, collaboration, and belonging has strengthened team dynamics and created a positive environment where both staff and participants can thrive.
