Guelph Gryphons Female Basketball Shooting Clinic Camp

We're excited to bring back the Guelph Gryphons Female Basketball Shooting Clinic Camp!

Registration is now open and spots are still available. 

Our Basketball Shooting Clinic is for ages 12-18 (born 2004-10). See details below for more information and links to register. 

Female Shooting Clinic

The camp is created to help basketball players increase their ability to shoot the ball.  Focus at the camp program will be directed toward proper efficient technique of shooting dynamics.

Shooting Techniques and Growth

Techniques will be taught that will align with the growth of the player. During their time at camp they will learn how to be more efficient at shooting and having success in different situations.

High Level Coaching

The Shooting Clinic Camp will be facilitated and led by the University of Guelph Women's Basketball Head Coach, Mark Walton.

Small Groups and Age Specific

The program is designed to have small groups that will be directly facilitated by Coach Walton or Coach Reid.  All groups will ensure to be designed to be age and skill appropriate.

Situational Shooting

Participants in the camp will learn how to become efficient at shooting in a variety of situations: shooting off the bounce, shooting off the dribble, getting yourself open, and shooting in traffic.

Confidence

After this program your confidence in shooting the basketball will grow and take your abilities to become more efficient.

Female Shooting Clinic | Half Day | Aug 8-12 | Ages 12-18 | [SPACES AVAILABLE]

This half day female basketball shooting clinic is designed for self-identified female basketball players. The camp is created to help basketball players increase their ability to shoot the ball. Focus at the camp program will be directed toward proper efficient technique of shooting dynamics and will cover shooting off the bounce, shooting off the dribble, getting yourself open, and shooting in traffic. Other techniques will be taught that will align with the growth of the player during their time at camp. This will be facilitated by members of the Gryphon Women's Basketball coaching staff. Participants will be divided into groups by age and ability. Participants will be required to provide their own basketball at camp.

Meet The Coaches


Mark Walton Head Coach - Univerisity of Guelph Women's Basketball

  • The 2021-22 season is Mark Walton's 6th season as head coach of the women's basketball program at the University of Guelph.
  • University of New Hampshire (NCAA Division 1) women's basketball Assistant Coach 2010-11, responsible for player development, recruiting from Canada and Europe and tactical advice.
  • Canada Basketball National Elite Development Academy (NEDA) girls' team head coach for 2007-09.
  • Has coached a number of Canadian National Team players, along with two WNBA players
  • Has a proven record of teaching players to shoot the ball.

Megan Reid Associate Head Coach - Univerisity of Guelph Women's Basketball

  • Has been working with the Guelph Gryphons women's basketball program since 2017.
  • Former Lead Assistant of the Mohawk College women's basketball program for eight seasons.
  • Former Lead Assistant Coach of the senior boy's basketball team at John F. Ross Collegiate Vocational Institute in Guelph.
  • Former Head coach of the junior girl's team at John F. Ross where on four separate occasions, helped guide the teams to AAAA OFSAA appearances.
  • Played basketball for York University and the University of Western Ontario (back-to-back trips to nationals).
  • During her senior season at Western in 1996-97, Megan was part of a Mustangs team that posted an overall record of 30-3 while capturing CIS bronze medal.  That team was later inducted into Western's women's basketball "Hall of Honour".
  • Megan's strong coaching and playing background is also complimented by over 20 years of teaching experience in both the Halton and Upper Grand District School Boards.
