Gryphons Ringette capture Bronze

Gryphon Ringette Championship March 2018The Guelph Gryphon Ringette team was victorious in the Bronze Medal game at the Ontario Ringette Association AA Provincial Championship held March 8-11 in Ottawa.

The Gryphons finished in second place in a tightly contested round robin and faced the University of Ottawa Gee Gees in the semi final round. It was an intense, fast-paced game from start to finish. In the dying seconds the Gryphons came very close to tying the game but the Golden Hawks eventually squeaked out the win, 3-2.

Facing the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in the Bronze final, the Gryphons started quickly, scoring just 38 seconds into the game. Laurier responded with three straight goals. Late in the period the Gryphons scored again to close the gap. At the end of the first period Laurier was leading 3-2. The Gryphons scored just 19 seconds into the final period, tying the game. Just over two minutes later, Guelph scored again to take the lead. Laurier responded less than a minute later to tie the contest. At 6:18 Guelph scored the eventual game winner, holding off the Golden Hawks to capture the ORA University Division Bronze Medal.
