WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF DETERMINING 2018 CAMP DATES

A camp that showcases a new sport to many youth.  The triathlon camp is a wonderful way to prepare youth for summer triathlons and introduce the mix of swimming, running, and biking. The camp is designed for youth that can meet certain particulars within each sport and between 9-14 years old.

Guelph has a large Triathlon Community. The city and surrounding area hosts at least 5 competitions each season, and is home to many resident clubs for athletes of all ages and abilities. The University of Guelph is the home base for Triathlon Canada’s Regional Triathlon Centre. Craig Taylor is the centre’s head coach and designs and supervises the camp content. Athletes and coaches from University of Guelph and the RTC are excited to offer an outstanding experience.

Camp content includes the basics of swimming, biking, running, and transitions, in a safe, inclusive, fun and challenging environment. Elite triathletes from the RTC program will make guest appearances for specific sessions. Friday will be race day with an opportunity to test new skills on a modified course through campus.

This camp is great preparation for the many youth triathlons offered throughout the summer. Please visit the Triathlon Ontario website (www.triathlonontario.com) for information on youth events, and register early, as these events typically sell out.

Campers must be able to swim 200m (8 lengths of a 25m pool) continuously and run at least 2km. Campers must bring proper swimming attire (cap, suit goggles, towel), bicycle, approved helmet (CSA, EN, ASTM, CPSC or Snell B90/B95), running shoes, comfortable clothing for activity, sunscreen, and a lunch, snacks and water bottle. Bikes must be in good working order, and appropriately sized to the rider. We strongly recommend that all bikes be taken to a bike shop for a tune-up prior to camp to minimize time lost to bike repairs during sessions. Aero bars are not permitted. Clipless pedals are not necessary, but are permitted.
