LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM | AGES 14-16 | Born: 2003-2005

Registration is now open!

The Leadership Development Program is an experiential-learning based program that fosters leadership skill development and personal growth through weekly programs.  Each week is focused on a new leadership topic and designed to be in depth and assist the growth of the youth that attend the program.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Each program theme is an individual sign up. You do not need to sign up for each week, only the one that you want to focus on for Leadership. The program Leadership 101 has a mandatory in-camp experience, and the other leadership programs have an optional in-camp experience if you want to earn your community service hours.  You will need to email Kevin Lindner directly at Lindner@uoguelph.ca to sign up for any in-camp experiences.

Leadership 101 (Intro to Leadership) – this two-week (one week in-class, one week in-camp) program is designed to open youths' minds to leadership and what it entails.  Workshops during the week include communication effectiveness, working in teams, how to lead, decision making, and being a strong team player. In the second week, you will be part of the Junior Activity Camp program where you will be an active participant in planning and facilitating, talking in front of groups, and working with others.  Participants will receive 40 hours of community service for the in-camp experience.

Building Your Job Portfolio – during this week, youth will participate in workshops that focus on working in teams, conflict resolution, job searching, resume writing, interview skills, and earn their Emergency First Aid Certificate.

Having a Voice – this week’s focus is on skills that enable youth to learn how to stand up for what they are passionate about and those that may not have a voice, fundraising, presentation skills, giving back, volunteering, being a positive image in the community, and recognize how they are leaders now and not just in the future. This program will also have a one-day experience in the community as we assist a local not for profit organization.

School Leadership – a great way to kick start “back to school”. Are you thinking of taking a leadership role in high school? Student Council? Working on group assignments? Captain or a leader of an organization?  We will walk you through how to lead meetings, delegate responsibilities, time management, program plan, gain support from classmates, be fiscally responsible and how to lead your school in a positive atmosphere.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Learning about who you are as a leader is very important as a teenager. The Leadership Development Program will assist youth in understanding what skills they posses as a leader, along with how they can become a better leader at school and in the work industry.
